~ Minimally Invasive Knee Replacement

Peter Bonutti is an orthopedic surgeon, inventor, and business developer. He is a pioneer in Minimally Invasive Total Knee Replacement, with several hundred successful surgeries performed to date, and holds more than 100 patents on orthopedic devices, implants, and instrumentation.

The inventor of Balloon Dissection Technology, Dr. Bonutti has created several companies and products, including Bonutti Research; Joint Active Systems, a novel rehabilitation system; Multitak®, a minimally invasive soft tissue fixation system; Unity®, a suture fixation system; and TranSet®, an endoscopic fracture repair system.

Dr. Bonutti is a Senior Consultant to Stryker Corporation, the world's largest orthopedic company, where he focuses on the development and design of new joint replacements in surgical instrumentation. He has licensed numerous patent technologies to firms such as Hitachi Medical and Tyco—General Surgery. He is a team orthopedist for Eastern Illinois University.

In 1989, Dr. Bonutti founded the Bonutti Clinic in Effingham, Illinois. In doing so, he realized his goal of bringing world-class clinical care and surgical expertise to a historically underserved area of the country.
Over the past 10 years, Dr. Bonutti has written over 40 original articles published in peer reviewed journals, written several book chapters, and given hundreds of lectures nationally and internationally.
